Good headaches end abruptly, like the rain after a thunderstorm. I fall asleep and wake up to the feeling of clean, crisp air and bright skies that are pleasant and not unbearable. I used to have a headache every couple of weeks that started very clearly with a trippy aura and ended very distinctly when I finally fell asleep and woke up feeling perfectly fine. Somewhere around the age of seventeen, it changed. The aura part became less clear, more frequent and unpredictably messy. Sometimes followed by a headache, sometimes not. Sometimes it would start in a late afternoon in rush hour traffic if the sun catches the mirror at the wrong angle and be over almost before it started and other times it built into a crescendo culminating in a 72-hour blur of pain. Its less clear again this time around. I’ve spent the last few days in a haze of pain and sleep, never sure if its over or just sleeping. I’m hoping we’re nearing over soon.
